Hello, & a very warm welcome to my site.

I am Helen and I live in the UK.

I am a Christian follower of the Lord Jesus Christ.

The idea for the name of my blog came from the Lord impressing upon me the following passage of scripture.

“Most assuredly, I say to you, unless a GRAIN OF WHEAT falls into the ground and dies, it remains alone; but if it dies, it produces much grain.

He who loves his life will lose it, and he who hates his life in this world

will keep it for eternal life.

If anyone serves Me, let him follow Me; and where I am, there My servant will be also.

If anyone serves Me, him My Father will honour.”

I was saved by the Lord Jesus Christ, forgiven of my sins, or born-again via God’s Holy Spirit over 30 years ago.  I discovered that the Bible was True and began to read it avidly from then onwards.

I was brought up in a family that was originally part of the Catholic religion.  But whilst I was still a small child my dad began a spiral of seeking spirituality via a range of other belief systems; these were mainly of a “new-age” flavour, coupled with Eastern mysticism.

I thus had some knowledge of Jesus, God and the Bible as a small child but it was never REAL to me until I reached my early twenties.  There came a day however,  when I was given hope that not only was God REAL but He could deliver me from evil and darkness.

I will never forget the immense spiritual intensity of a most horrendous hour in a Christian meeting, as I desperately wanted to go ask the Christians offering prayer to help me.  But there was a tremendous “battle for my soul” going on!  The “enemy of my soul” was keeping me firmly glued to my seat, but the Spirit of the Lord was urging me to ask for His help.  I praise the Lord, that Jesus was (& always IS) stronger than the devil.   I found that the name of Jesus, and His shed blood upon the cross at Calvary, has mighty power to defeat the evil one.  I have found the Bible, to be a true source of eternal wisdom, power and truth upon which I can be led and fed by God, who is the Lord of heaven and earth.

I then became a “church goer,” as new believers tend to do, of course.  However, being the 1980s, the churches I attended lent towards the charismatic side of things, and over the years I was being led in ways that weren’t always right with the Bible’s teachings.  Eventually the Lord started opening my eyes to the various deceptions within the churches.

That was an exceedingly difficult thing to deal with; as little by little I discovered more about certain ungodly doctrines and practices within Christendom.  As some of the things that I had believed and practiced, were being revealed to me as wrong in God’s eyes (and some even from the enemy of the Lord), then I went through a time of depression as I felt the rug had been whipped out from under my feet!  I was left reeling in emotional pain and confusion, not knowing which way to turn and what to trust and believe, and then finding that nobody else seemed to want to share my journey of discovery with me; quite the contrary, they seemed to turn on me with shunning or verbal attacks.  But I had set my face to seeking and pleasing the Lord so I continued on in my searching out the TRUTH of all matters of faith that were right in God’s eyes.

So in Summary

I consider that my motivation for writing this blog has the following elements to it:-

  • I want to testify what God has done and continues to do in my life as a witness to His glory.
  • I hope to encourage other believers in their lives.
  • I wish to obey the scriptures that tell me to “Contend earnestly for the faith.”

flock-of-birds-in-skyJust prior to starting this blog, I had seen a large flock of birds all flying in a wonderful synchronized pattern together over the sea, which had caused me to pray that the Lord would cause His Body to likewise “fly together” by hearing the Lord’s instructions.

To watch a flock of birds, such as I saw, it is simply amazing how they remain in formation.  I remember reading how they take turns in the lead & outer perimeter edges on their long flights to give the birds in the centre a chance to rest.  I am thus praying that adding my blog to the Body of Christ could help one or more fellow believers to keep on going on this long (oftentimes lonely) journey of life.  I pray that I may in some small way encourage you in your life with the Lord.

God bless

Helen
